Let us admit it! We all have at some point enjoyed the pleasant smell of wet mud, especially after the long and arid months of summer.
Either reclining on an easy-chair reading a good book or just staring at the rain trickling down window panes ( preferably with a piping hot cup of tea in hand), the monsoon season definitely ushers in a tranquil mood. Pleasant, soothing and overwhelmingly romantic, it is definitely a season which many look forward to. However, bliss too has its dark sides! From perpetually damp clothing to coping with the persistent chills, the season can prove to be quite a challenge, as you try carrying out your day to day tasks.
Here is a list of a few things, which you ought to keep in check, as it will help you stay rejuvenated and enjoy the season’s calmness to its fullest.
1. Stay hydrated at all times.
Given that the temperature has dropped, you will feel the need to quench your thirst has diminished. Also, you don’t like frequenting your office/public toilets. Who does anyway? However, it is essential to keep drinking adequate amounts of water as it not only keeps you well hydrated and rejuvenated.
P.S. It also helps keep the UTI worries at bay.
2. Venture outdoors with a handy umbrella
The season definitely calls for some unexpected spells of rain and cool gusts of wind. But, that should not stop you from venturing outdoors. It is advisable to carry a small, light-weight but sturdy umbrella in your bag, at all times.
3. Wind-cheaters do keep the winds away!
Though not literally, wind-cheaters definitely helps protect your ears and chest from the cool gusts of winds as they blow their might during this season. Well, you definitely don’t want to be seen blowing your nose, while you are at a romantic dinner with your special other.
4. Carry along your favourite Vaporub and lip-balm
Pick your favourite brand. But vaporubs (Example: Vicks) definitely makes you feel much better in-case you catch a cold or have an aching nose. Moreover, there are chances that your lips might dry up, and this is where your lip-balm would come in handy. Take good care of your lips, just as you would your skin.
5.Keep a good stock of old newspapers
Not kidding at all! Walking in the rain calls for wet shoes; and nothing dries up the insides of a shoe better than rolled up bits of newspaper. Remember, there is not much Sunshine around! Dry shoes are not only comfortable to walk in; it also keeps worries of foot odour and feet infections at bay.
P.S. Also, you figured out something that you could do you’re your stacked up newspapers!
6.Buy a few extra pairs of socks
Walking in the rain might at times lead to wet socks. Plus, your clothes wont dry quickly even under a full speed fan. It is indeed a good idea to keep a few extra pairs in-order to minimize the discomfort of walking around with wet/cold feet.
7.Try and dry your clothing indoors.
Surely sounds bizarre but after spending nearly an hour doing your laundry, you don’t want the rains soaking your efforts. Either arrange for a cloth stand or make provisions for hanging your clothes indoors. Your guests will surely understand that it rains a lot. (Well in-case they don’t, borrow their clothes)
P.S, Your clothes will definitely take a longer time to dry indoors when compared to drying them under the Sun. But, it still ensures that you have dry clothes to wear every day.
8.Keep warm, even while staying indoors
Not much needs to be said about this. The season surely calls out for you to take out those blankets and cosy sweaters. However, if you like to enjoy the chills go ahead and do so! But we certainly like to cuddle up under the covers with some soothing music, or curl up with a book in our favourite sweatshirt, as the rain continues to pour in the background!
9.Choose a good range of books
If you are the kind who prefers to enjoy the essence of the season by staying indoors, then a good book will definitely enhance your experience. The rain pouring down outside would definitely serve as an ideal backdrop to almost any event unfolding within your V-shaped book.
P.S. However, it is advisable to choose the right type of books. If you are the kind who feels gloomy under a cloudy sky, a romantic-tragedy should be the last thing in your book list.
10.Stuff your kitchen with your favourite brand of beverages.
Earl grey or Nescafe! You certainly know what your favourite brands are. Sip your warm favourite beverage amidst the coolness surrounding you. The experience is surely therapeutic. Accompany it with some hot samosas or pakoras, and you can feel the bliss of paradise. And if you have to lose weight post this, you know where to look!
